Although the world of the internet has brought us together much closer, it also has fostered the fact that now there are much more illegal players in the market (disguised as car rentals, associations of real or nonexisting persons, who are not even prepared to give their names or whereabouts), who simply break the laws, which govern this type of business. This sort of people offer their services in the net, too.
Therefore, we believe, and also feel obliged to warn and explain to you, what the differences are, how one can distinguish these people, and what can happen, if you sign a contract with them.

How does one know who is legal?
Ask for the permit number of the travel agency or tour operator. Make sure it is correct. Normally the number is listed on the web page.
What happens if you have a contract with an illegal person?
First of all you are supporting the black market. If everything goes well, you will save some money, since the illegal providers do not pay taxes for the services we have on our list. However, if there are any problems with your trip, accommodation, excursion etc., there will be nobody against whom you can lodge a complaint; the corporation does not exist and you will first have to file a litigation on the grounds of illegality. As this sort of business partners do not adhere to the law the same applies, mutatis mutandis, to the products they offer, which can be faulty and ruin your holidays.
Which are the differences?
A travel agency has to comply with the following conditions, which serve as a guarantee for the client in respect of services and credibili-ty of the provider of such services:
-Complaints: Each of the corporate premises will have to provide official forms of complaint of the Government of the Canaries.
-Authenticated copy of the statutes of the corporation and its entry into the commercial register as well as the authorities to sign. The statutes will clearly have to stipulate that the sole and exclusive purpose of the corporation will be the proper activities of travel agencies.-Equally a paid-in minimum capital of 60.101.21 Euros has to be shown. This minimum capital will increase by 6.010.12 Euros for each authorised branch.
-Insurance policy, which guaranties the coverage of all eventual corporate liabilities incurred by exercising its activities. This coverage should include all kinds of physical, material and other economic damages. The policy should cover the amount of 450.759.08 Euros.
-Documentary letter of credit for the wording of the guarantee as it is stipulated in Art. 13 of the Decreto Ley, or the inclusion of the agency into the solidarity fonds for guarantees.
-Authorised copy of the documentary letter of credit
-Map at a scale of 1 : 50 or 1 : 100 of the main corporate office and all its outlets.
-Certificate of the public register with respect to the registration of the commercial name and label, as well as its brand name used by the agency, if there are any.
